About Me

I have a passion to help others explore their feelings, thoughts, cognitive distortions, experiences and to navigitate difficult situations to help clients re-gain purpose and passion for life.

Experience

Counselling for 2 years

I have two years experience working with adults aged over 18 years at PCI Counselling Service. I work mainly with low mood/depression; anxiety; stress; bereavement/loss and grief; disability, bullying, chronic illness; family issues, life transitions; low self-esteem, relationship issues; trauma; generalised anxiety disorder, panic, social anxiety, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD); trauma and suicide

Approach

I work from a person-centred perspective and aim to build a trusting therapeutic relationship with the client, explore personal issues, thoughts and feelings, to help develop growth and healing. I work collaboratively with each client, tailoring my approach to meet the individual needs and preferences of each client, and helping to select the best tools and strategies to realise full potential for positive change.

I often combine this with an integrative approach when I feel this may be helpful such as evidence-based therapeutic interventions including Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT).

Qualification

I have a BSc Hons. in Counselling and Psychotherapy and am currently working towards Accreditation. I am a pre-accredited meImber of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP).
