Global Multi-Award Winning Psychotherapist, Lecturer, Sociologist, Scholar, Global Presenter, Academic Supervisor and Mental Health Consultant. With over thirteen years experience, Dr. Susan M. Lawlor offers counselling and psychotherapy to young people, teenagers, adults, couples and groups in person, via the phone and via Zoom. Dr. Lawlor also delivers interactive workshops and presentations on mental fitness in varying business, educational and healthcare sectors and provides commentary in mental health on the radio, TV and print media. Additionally, Dr. Lawlor is a Lecturer in Co. Cork and Co. Limerick. She lectures in Skills-based Psychotherapy for Master students in Co. Limerick and in Youth Work, Conceptualising Frameworks and Psychotherapy for BA Social Study students in Co. Limerick. She lecturers in Counselling and Psychotherapy in Co. Cork. Lastly, she works as an Academic Supervisor for Master students in Co. Limerick and supports them with their Master degree dissertations specialising in all aspects of mental health.

Dr. Susan Mary Lawlor PhD, PgCouns., M.A. Couns&PsychTh, MA., BA, MNAPCP, is a Mental Health Consultant, Psychotherapist, Sociologist, Local, National and Global Community Champion Award Winner in mental health, Global presenter, Co-founder of State of Mind Ireland, Lecturer in Psychotherapy, Conceptualising Frameworks and Youth Work, Academic Supervisor, and delivers interactive workshops and presentations on mental fitness, to individuals on-line and in-person in varying business, educational and healthcare sectors. Dr. Lawlor graduated for the fifth time in 2020 after completing a Masters (Hons) degree in Psychotherapy and Counselling where she attained a First-Class Hons degree along with a First-Class Hons in both of her final year projects and a First-Class Hons in her dissertation. In addition, she has attained several honour degrees specialising in the areas of sociology, social psychology, counselling and psychotherapy and countless certificates and diplomas in the areas of mental health, general health, and business over the past two decades. Dr Lawlor has written six dissertations across her time in academia specialising in the following areas: Thesis Title: Investigating Adolescent Gaelic Footballers Experiences of Mental Health Within The GAA: An Ecological Systemic Approach Dissertation Title: Understanding And Constructing Adolescents Experiences Of Facial Difference. Thesis Title: Euthanasia and its effects on significant others. Thesis Title: Advertising Cosmetic Surgery and the Body in Consumer Culture. Thesis Title: Migration in Maynooth Thesis Title: Single Teenage Parents Dr. Lawlor is a Lecturer in Co. Cork and Co. Limerick. She lectures in Skills-based Psychotherapy for Master students in Co. Limerick and in Youth Work, Conceptualising Frameworks and Psychotherapy for BA Social Study students in Co. Limerick. She lecturers in Counselling and Psychotherapy in Co. Cork. Dr. Lawlor has earned her several awards, including Special Recognition The Hero Awards in January 2021. The National Hero Awards celebrates Ireland’s everyday heroes and are in recognition of the kindness, strength, and fortitude by an every day hero. She also won Connect Kerry Women in Business Community Champion Award and the prestigious Unsung Hero Award in association with Radio Kerry and Fexco. In 2020, she received her highest accolade to date, as she was chosen as the winner of the ‘Individual’s’ category in the 2020 Mental Health Champions – a global awards initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health, run by the World Dignity Project. Dr. Lawlor will be presenting her work in June 2022 at a Symposium at the World Mental Health Congress in London and will also receive her global award in Westminster Abbey in London.
