Working as a Mother, Teacher, Clinical hypnotherapist and having experienced the ups and downs of life, and my own health challenges, I found that ACUPUNCTURE was the one main alternative or complimentary therapy that put emotional, mental and physical balance back into my life. It amazed me how these tiny needles placed in ones body could subtly adjust those areas back into equilibrium, by unblocking stagnation built up, energizing and uplifting ones mood or reducing pain without the side effects of medication or just suppressing the symptoms for quick relief.
I have worked for many years as a Clinical Hypnotherapist in the Uk, Australia and Thailand. Trained in London at Kings College. In the Uk I got many referrals from Sheffield University to work with students who needed hypnosis for motivation, help with completing their assignments, self esteem, anxiety and panic attacks. Also helped many clients with eating disorder, smoking cessation and phobias. In Australia I work alongside the medical profession and with midwifes concentrating mostly on hypno-birthing at the time. During these years there were gaps to concentrate on being a mum but always staying in touch and training and helping those who needed some encouragement, or healing. I started my Acupuncture training in Australia along with Shiatsu 14 years ago. However, I had to return to Ireland during my training. I was fortunate to completed my diploma in Dublin at Lansdowne College of Acupuncture with an amazing mentor/lecturer Dr, Vincent Carroll, a Western Medical Doctor also trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. Vincent Carroll saw there was a need for recognised and competent acupuncturist in Ireland and set up the 'Lansdowne College of Acupuncture and Complimentary Medicine' in 1996. His knowledge of western medicine, TCM and his way of practical teaching was enlightening. I am passionate about empowering my clients through hypnosis. Using acupuncture to treat their aliments in a holistic approach that is mentally, emotionally and physically healing.
I specialise in treating patients for multiple painful conditions, as well as emotional and mental distress. I use holistic and a natural approach to treating such conditions which incorporates the body as a whole, instead of just the symptoms. Healing is not about masking the symptoms but finding the root cause. How this is done: Initial consultation will be carried out with each client, a detailed history will be taken of their previous and present health issues to assess diagnose and determine a treatment plan. Treatment Acupuncture treatment is the insertion of very fine sterile needles into the skin at particular locations to stimulate energy flow along the meridians. The body’s own healing response. After initial consultation and treatment- (Please allow 1 hour 30 minutes). If needed, booking subsequent follow-up sessions, these sessions will last between 45 minutes to 1 hour. I will explain the diagnosis and treatment plan to the client – to work in partnership with the client about their treatment, with advice on how to improve their health in between treatments. Offer herbal supplements if required. Other treatments: Incorporate other treatments such as moxibustion (burning a special herb near the skin at location points that are beneficial to their treatment also known to increase the white blood cells and boost immunity. Electro-acupuncture (stimulating the insertion points with small electrical currents) and acupressure to loosen and relax muscles and cupping to draw out toxins unblock stagnation and improve circulation. Continued Assessment Assess patients progress through questioning, examination, Tongue diagnosis, pulse diagnosis, and general observation. Review the treatment plan if necessary.

I am a carer, working with elderly clients every day. It is a rewarding job but also because of the nature of illness, aging and their mobility it is also a very demanding and stressful job. Over a year ago I started to have anxiety, sleepless nights and then IBS. I have been attending acupuncture sessions with Irene for nearly a year now. My health, wellbeing, anxiety and sleep patterns have improved considerably. I now go on a regular basis for maintenance and boosting my immune system so that I don't get ill again. I haven't suffered from colds or flu since attending her Clinic. Bernard (Care Worker)
